Default Bluetooth for A/C

I have not looked into this so I'm asking ......do they make a Bluetooth device that would let you turn on your A/C in your boat with your smartphone?

While riding my jet ski this afternoon this idea popped up. I thought it would be great to be able to turn your air on at a point of time so when you arrive at your marina the cabin is nice and cool.

Just a thought....

Roger

I think the Bluetooth would have to be in range of the boat so that probably won't work.
I've thought about it also. If you have a wifi connection at the marina you can do it, unfortunately we don't.
They sell a wifi controlled outlet which you can find online pretty easily and you can turn on and off with your phone (app)
rewire the AC to this outlet and then leave the ac on and it should work.

Agree Bluetooth is for near range reception.

A wifi installation would work and as BB pointed out you will need wifi on the boat that controls a switch however I would think you could also put the control in the thermostat power line instead of the entire ACs prime power.

good point... a wifi switch would be better.
I wish I had wifi at our dock. That would be so convenient.

Hi Roger I'm sorry I didn't see this before but there are systems out there that are cellular based and you can install an app on your phone that will allow you to control different devices with it.

Do you know the name of the unit? I think this is what we are both looking for. I searched the web but only think I would find required a wifi signal.
thanks, BB

The system is a basic style alarm system you should be able to pick up the only issue is you have to pay a monthly fee for the cell and usage. I sell security equipment for a living and the equipment is totally wireless and really not expensive.
