Default Bitterweet

They say the two best days with a boat are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

I sold my boat last night. I don't believe the sentiment. The admiral cried. for me it was bittersweet. We had a lot of good times and a lot of memories on that boat over the last 10 years. (sure, lots of frustrations too).

At the end of the day, i spent more money on the boat than I spent FOR the boat. I certainly sold it for way less than I wanted, or even what it was worth, in all honesty. However, that is boating and boat ownership. I wanted inexpensive, I would still be canoeing.

If I take the total sum spent on the boat and all repairs and upgrades (then throw up a little) then divide by the number of weekends we used her, the price per weekend is a number we can happily live with.

(Ahhhh!!!!!....... 'Boaters Math' (a.k.a. financial denial))

Moving forward with a new chapter in a new boat.

Don't do the math! You're gonna enjoy the new boat! And even though you don't have a maxum anymore, we sure hope you hang around!

Thanks Kevlar7r!

Much to everyone's disappointment, I'll be sticking around. I love this 'zoo', as Steve "Seapuppy" Stevens used to call it.

Congrats on the new boat!
I have sold some boats and I lost some in a fire!
Never an enjoyable time either way, but always fun to replace them though!
Not everyone will be disappointed that you are staying around as you contribute greatly to this site! Good luck and enjoy the new boat, be safe!

Initial cost is just the entry fee.

Glad to hear you're not going anywhere other than a new boat.
