Default Bimini top size question

I want to purchase a bimini top to replace the useless convertible top that came with my 1994 1800XR. When I use the database on several of the websites it recomends the 79"-84" width for my boat. When I measure from where I think I want to mount it is 77". Does it make more sense to order the larger one and bend the supports in slightly or get the 73"-78" and bend the supports out to the upper limit?

Default bimini

it doesn't make sense to me to get the larger one and bend anything...since bending usually weakens joints....I try and find one that is the correct size..hopefully someone with your sized boat will stop in here lend a few well placed comments.......

I have a 2006 1800 with the factory bimini and have to bend the middle supports in, with a good amount of force, about three inches to get them into the brackets.
where did you measure to get 77"? I'll take a tape to mine this week and post the results but we should be measuring the same spots.

I measured between the factory mounted hardware for the convertible top. I think the databases are showing the larger size for mounting outside of the side glass. My hardware is just inside and I would like to use that.
