Battery mystery

Hello all,
I have a 1997 Maxum 2700 scr. In the engine compartment I can only find one positive red cable to the battery, but I have two negative black cables. I have a 1,2, both and off selector for 2 batteries. Am I just missing a jump cable between the positive posts? Is this the standard 2 battery setup run in parallel? This seems to negate the battery 1 and 2 selector.

There should be two positive battery cables one from each batteries positive terminal with one going to batt 1 of the selector switch and the other going to batt 2.

That's what I assumed. I've only found just one positive cable out. just making sure I wasn't losing my mind, or a new connection style ��

I 12VDC system the ground is 'common'. What gauge are the cables. Do you have a separate start and house battery? Typically, the Starter ground goes to the engine. The house ground goes to the panel, and there is a ground connecting the two batteries.
