Default Another Newbie

Hi guys - greetings from UK :hello:

I recently purchased a 2007 Maxum 2400 SC3 with 5.7 Mercruiser 350 Mag and Bravo III leg

Havn't been into boats for a number of years so still finding my way a bit. Bought the boat in November and since this is UK, the weather was mucho crappo, but it was a good buyer's market at that time  so we plunged in, took her for a very cold and quick spin up the river, and put her away for the winter.

She has now been de-winterised and we've been trialling her on a few occasions already. So far only have a couple of issues which I could do with some comments and advice, but I'll put those in the relevant sections on the forum.

Glad to be on board

Hi Ash -our boat is at Essex Marina based at Wallasea Island, in the River Crouch.

The Crouch is just over 17 miles long, and also gives us access to the smaller River Roach, on our way out to the North Sea.

The tidal stream of the Crouch and Roach, particularly on the ebb, are very fast flowing. It is said that if an average guy falls off his boat into the river, by the time he surfaces he will be 20ft from his boat and unable to swim against the stream to get back.

Also, as the river exits into the sea, that area of coastline is famous for its large sandbanks which make navigation, er, interesting

Not trying to paint a bad picture, that's just how it is and we have a great time with the boat - its just that you particularly have to respect your surroundings. If you have the capability to look at Google Earth, try typing in Wallasea Island

Many thanks for your interest.
