Default AC recommendations

Looking to replace our marine ac unit this upcoming season.
I’m getting mixed reviews online with various brands.
I’ll be getting approx 9,000 BTU unit.

Any info on any of these brands or any others is appreciated. Especially if you’ve had it for several years.

1. Marine aire
2. Domestic
3. Wabasto
4 any other good options?

OK I believe only wabasto and domestic are your choices. Marine air was bought by domestic. So like everything there are different quality levels that more money you spend your unit is built a little bit better. Like buying a chevy or a Lexus.

I would look for a dealer that has service. Now if that is not an issue with you buy the cheapest 9,000 btu A/C you can find. Either one you will have a great a/c unit for your boat.

Hope this helps

Roger

Marine Air Systems (AIRRRRR) and Crusair were both bought by Dometic (Yes, that is the correct spelling). Marine Aire is a different company. Your options are:

Dometic
Webasto
Marine Aire

I don't know anything about Marine Aire. I only know Webasto in regards to diesel heaters. Dometic absorbed the two major brands in marine AC and Dometic is a well recognized and respected brand.

What concerns have you been hearing??

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully someone who has one of these units will chime in to say how they like theirs. Reviews are all over the place on these 3 brands. Some mention they only lasted a few months.

My 10,000 btu a/c- heat dometic unit that I have had since 2016 has worked flawlessly in my 01 3000 scr. Had it installed by the local dealer and knock on wood I have not had any problems yet. My old unit use to freeze up all the time, not this one. It also heats very nicely too .

So pull the trigger, you will be glad you did.

Thanks. Going on our 10 season with the boat which is a 2800 scr and love it. Great boat.
Cool to see the same familiar people on this forum as when I first asked many questions those first couple years.
