Default A/C water intake strainer

I have a 1997 2800 Maxum.
Opened the stop-cock for water intake to A/C and the strainer leaked big time.
Opened strainer, strainer very clean. Closed the strainer back, and it still leaks. Is there a gasket missing????
Thks

The strainer sits down in a slot, if it's not all the way down, it will not seal...happened to me this spring...the cover does have a rubber gasket I. The lid too, I'm replacing mine next spring

There should be a gasket for the seastrainer. They do need to be replaced periodically. usually you need to reef down until it stops leaking. However, I did that last year and sheared a restraining bolt on the lid. (Depending on the type, some are just screw on lids).
