Default 99 2100 sr

I created this to ask questions about a boat I am looking at. It's a 1999 Maxum 2100 Sr with the Mercruiser 5.7 and 4 blade stainless prop. 200 hours with very clean interior and nice trailer. They are asking 9850. It is very clean like I said and the engine I want. Did a search on them and for that year they were a wide boat with lots of power and great hull. Just seeing if it's a good deal and maybe an idea of what to look at when I go see it. Thanks

Welcome aboard

Look for the same issues as any boat, soft spots in the deck, general condition, tore seats, ...

use a IR temp sensor and take reading of the engine and exhaust system. Take it for a test run to make sure it can hit the engines WOT and see how she handles.

Compare with what is being offered on boats.com and yachtworld.com for the same relative size and year.

Default 99 2100sr

I am going this weekend to test drive this boat. I guess I'm gonna have a marine mechanic look over it too. He says the tachometer or speedometer doesn't work and small tear in rear sun deck. How can you find the engine hours if there is no meter?. I also was wondering where to find manuals for these boats if I buy it. I checked the value with others and with like options and it's under the suggested retail. Do you recommend any specifics to check on these Maxum Boats. Again it has a 5.7 Mercruiser

$$$$$

IMO probably not worth the costs. How many hours on the engine?
I have seen aftermarket kits that bolt on in place of the carb but they cost $1K.

Re powering with a new EFI engine will cost about $6K for the engine plus labor.

Well that's another question. Where is the engine meter on tha boat and if not one then how could I find out the engine hours. I am hoping it wl have plenty of power. I drove 98 VIP deckliner today with a 5.7 mercruiser and wasn't impressed with the power but it's a different hull amd weight too with a 5 blade prop. Where is a good place to get parts for this maxum

If no hour meter and being a carb engine I am not sure you can get the hours, EFI ones the hours is stored in the ECM and can be read out with a scanner.

Engine and drive are Mercruiser so parts are still available. Maxum only made the hulls all other parts are third party.
