Default 5 L Mercrusier Bravo 3

Hi everyone,

Recently bought a 2007 Maxum 2400SE. This boat has a 5 Litre Mercrusier Engine with a bravo 3 outdrive.
Having a hard time getting the boat to run at 30 mph. Boat is trimmed properly. Is the any other boaters out there that has the same engine and outdrive but are only producing speed out 30 mph. I bought the boat from an older gentleman. Is there a way to set the carb so it only goes so fast.

Thanks in advance.

The speed the boat goes is not the best way to ck if it is running as it should.
What is the max RPM's it is hitting at that speed?
Boat speedometers are famous for not being correct.
Ck speed with a GPS is the best way.
Not sure of the max RPM your engine should be but guessing 4400-4800 RPM.
It should not be more or less than that.
Don

I agree with Don what is the WOT? Is this boat kept in the water and if so are you certain the bottom and drive are clean of marine growth? Have you checked the engine health? Pulled the spark plugs to see how each cylinder is burning? Maybe perform a compression test....

I have the same exact boat, runs 28MPH @ 3800-4000RPM. It takes a while to get up on plain as well. Is what it is I guess. Love the layout on the boat. Still playing with the Bennett auto trim system I installed.

What is your max rpm at Wide Open Throttle? Speed isn't relevant at this point.
