4600 Anchor Chain

Hi I have just bought that boat with the same on the bow setup. How much anchor chain do you have ?

A recommended minimum length of chain should be 1 boat length (Overall Length). So, on a 4600, around 50 feet of chain.

The size of the chain, line and anchor is dictated by the overall weight of the boat.

Is this a 4600 SCB? What year?

1998. But they say here in Southern California it should be like 250 feet of chain. I have a dinghy on the front as well

You should be using 3/8" G40 chain. The minimum recommendation is a MINIMUM. If the people you're talking too on the dock say 250 Feet, then I guess 250 is what you need. I anchor in around 8 - 14 feet of mostly sand and shells. I have around 130 feet of chain and only about 80 feet (usually less) ever leaves the anchor locker.

It will depend on how deep you anchor and what the seabed looks like.

I have purchased 260 ft of chain but the boat now has 75 ft chain and 100 feet of rode/rope
