Default 3D Printer Files

We can't search for '3D' because it's not enough letters and '3D*print' doesn't turn up much, so I apologize if there is a discussion about this elsewhere.

Is there a place where we keep 3D printer files for boat parts? If no, should we start one?

I made bow cushion holder things (pending fitment check) and a plate to cover the hole where the RayData was by the wheel.

Next up are cubbies for where the RayChart and Pilot used to be. Would anyone happen to have already done those?

Does anyone have any other things they have printed?

Nice work. You’ll need to see if one of the admins want to set up a place for these files.

Nice! I could use a bow cushion holder thing. Mine looks like the one on the bottom in the pic.

See? We need this.

I will add the file here after confirming it works as expected.

We would need to allow zip, stl, obj. The zip would allow us to include a picture of the object as well. Preferably, it would be nice to be able to add the picture to the post so people could see it without downloading the file.

We would also need an appropriate category.

It's kind of starting to sound like too much work. Up to you guys.

I can likely get this configured.. how big are the files?

Hi Janet,

It depends on the complexity, but typically STL files will be 2MB or less. The RayData plate is 145KB if blank or 1.1MB with some text on it. I wouldn't expect anything over 5MB. It would be nice if we could include a picture in the post.

Thanks.

I've set up a category for this, you may want to do some testing

Seemed to work. Pending approval.

There's no way to add a file in the description?

Nothing is pending approval. Janet may have already approved it.

I'm not sure how useful your local VHF channels or your radio call sign is going to be for other people. But hey, it's up there.

The STL file has no lettering on the plate. The picture is just an example. I will reload the ZIP with a jpg showing it blank.
