Default 3000scr generator

Should I be able to run my generator at the same time as the engines? When I have the generator running and start the engines,my generato shuts down. Is this a factory setting or do I have an issue. Friends with houseboats can have both running at the same time. ???

it should be running if you fire off all three........have it checked..it might just be timing that you fire off the genny and then the engines....maybe it's overheating or just shutting down..

I had that happen last year. My port engine and genny share one battery and the battery was dying. If I had the genny running and started the port engine before the starboard engine the genny would stop. I replaced the port battery and haven't had it happen since.
