Question 3000RPM @ Full Throttle

Maxum 2800SCR - Took the boat out for the first time this season, the boat has been sat in the Marina on the river for 6 weeks. At max throttle and full load, could not get on plane and over 3000rpm, engine temp 175, no alarms. Back at the Marina in neutral was able to rev at 4500rpm. Any ideas

I would recommend posting as much detail as possible about your setup. Help the people here to help you out more.

Engine Year / Model / Carb or EFI? Outdrive model, gear ratio and something about your prop.

Was this the first time it was fully loaded since you had the boat?

Maxum 2800 SCR Year 2000, 7.4L MerCruiser Big Block & Bravo 3 Outdrive.

Ran perfect before we put her away for winter. Marina did the winterisation, change oil etc.

How many people? Did you try moving weight forward? Growth on the bottom? Winterization and oil change would come into play here.

3 Adults and a dog all up front. Marina mechanic said props might be restricted with weeds from the river. Confused how it would get to 3000rpm then no more with full throttle.

Marine growth can greatly impact the ability to push the boat through water. That added drag will load down the engine preventing it from achieving high rpm. Reving the engine in neutral tells you nothing and can cause engine damage.
