Default 2007 Maxum 1800 Sputters when turning key off

Hello I am new to Forum and new to boating life. 2007 Maxum 1800 SR3 4.3L Merc.
I noticed the past couple times I've been out on the water, when I turn the boat off the engine sputters a bit before fully shutting down almost seems like its burning the last little bit of fuel off. Or the throttle plate isn't closing fully... It's happened a couple times now and not sure what to think? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Welcome aboard!

Run on is fairly common with the 4.3, are you letting the engine run at idle rpm for a few minutes before shutting it down?

Thanks for the reply, I'll let it run for maybe a few seconds at idle rpm before shutting it down. Next time I'm out I'll try running it a bit longer.
