Default 2004 3100 SE - thoughts/opinions

I am considering buying a 2004 Maxum 3100 SE with twin raw water cooled carburated 5.0 Mercs Bravo III outdrives.

Boat will be be used in the upper Potomac, day trips, overnight anchors, trips to other marinas. Just me and the GF.

I have not owned a carburated boat in a while, I have some reservations about that.

I have always liked the look, feel and layout of this boat and almost bought one years ago.

I'd love to hear from current/past owners with your thoughts, observations, opinions, etc.

Thanks

Might just be me but I'm a fan of the carburated engines. More simplicity, easier to diagnose issues for the average backyard wrench, and less expensive to repair. Tradeoff is some power and fuel economy. My 3300 has 2 carb'd 5.7 / 250hp, which move it through the water just fine for my needs.

Carb’d 5.0 are a fine power plant. I have them in my 3000 and it’s a good balance between power and fuel economy. I would go with 5.7’s if I had to do it again, just for that little extra power. I’m running Bravo 2’s which are pretty much bulletproof. The BIII have had a bit of a checkered past due to corrosion issues so be sure to research that so you are fully aware.

I have a 2004 3100se with the 5.0s with BII and love the boat, would I rather have 5.7 probably but only because bigger is always better. Seriously,
love the boat great layout and good looking.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I had the 5.7s in my 2001 Monterey 302, and the 5.0s in my 2006 Monterey 302. The 5.7's were super nice, could go faster but the 5.0s did the job

Going to see the 3100 SE tomorrow.

The SE line is a good looking line and I love the layout of mine.
