Default 2004 2400 SC3 - Fresh water pump

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2004 2400 SC3, nice boat in good shape with only 72 hours on it. 350 Mag/Bravo 3 package. Runs great.

Addressing a few items on it. One of those items is apparently the water pump that supplies the sink and transom shower leaks while running. Not sure what brand/model the OE pump is but am wondering if anyone has an opinion for a good quality replacement pump.

Thanks,

Dan

just go to west marine and get a jabsco pump...or check on west marines website...they have them for about a 100 bucks...easy to replace....

Thanks SP.

The reason for wanting to replace the OE pump with an identical pump is plug-n-play. Don't want to re-wire, re-route, etc-etc. I don't know how standardized the electrical plugs are, the mounting pads, the hose connections.

I'll remove the old one this weekend and have a look.

Regards,

Dan

I believe the OEM pump is a Jabsco. It should be plug and play. The pump should have the specs written on the body. I'd be sure to check the fuse requirements and the guage of wire used on the existing pump and compare to the requirements of the replacement to be sure that you don't have any issues. The replacement Jabsco should be the same, but it hurts not to check.

Make sure to also buy shrink tube butt connectors and a cheap heat gun (if you don't have one). butt connectors should match the guage of the wire being used. You can use regular butt connectors as long as you use shrink tubing over the connectors as well.

Just to follow up....

Pulled the OE pump this past weekend - turned out to be a FloJet, model 4405-143, with a strainer, model number 1740-014 (I think). The strainer has a 90* inlet to the pump.

Not only was the pressure switch housing cracked but the clear plastic cover for the strainer was as well. Likely not winterized properly.

Found the exact replacement pump online at several suppliers. Some were outrageously expensive, some had the pump but not the strainer. Finally found both for a reasonable price at one place (saves on shipping).

I'm sure I could have made something else work but would have had to drill new mounting holes, and fuss around with the water line connections. Neither would be fun, especially the water lines - those hard lines don't have much give in them.

Regards,

Dan

Re; replacement pump.

I just ordered and received a new fresh water pump from:

Abundance Enterprise Inc.
1511 E Birdland Dr.
Gilbert, Az. 85297

Email: differentshed@cox.net
Phone #: 480-306-4985.

Flojet is the brand of the pump and the model is available on the existing pump casing.

I ordered through Amazon.com.

Good job Jerry. Definately easier to replace the bad one with an identical new one.

A little time spent searching the internet saved me a....um, boat load of time!
