Default 1999 Maxum 2400 SR - Though Hull Replacement

Guess they are called thru hull plugs the white round holes just above water line ! The thru hull drain holes on the right side that are outside the bathroom behind fridge need to be replaced - letting in water. Seems the old ones broke off. Anyone know where to purchase and any info on their correct name and part number - does Amazon sell them as West Marine is so expensive !!

The correct terminology is thru hull fitting. The original are a plastic which is the cheapest and tend to crack or flake with age. Marelon are better and stainless steel the best. Yes you can find them on Amazon but you may get a better price from Defender, Fishers Supply, or some other online store. You’ll need to measure each to get its size.

Thank you SO much ! What fab advice, as you can tell I’m a female who prefers sitting on a boat, certainly not fixing it, lol. I joined the Maxum owners club as my fiancé bought the boat…reluctantly as he has been a life long sailor. I’m so not into sail boats. I will pass the info on, and search for the parts. Plus nag him to fix it.
Thanks again.

Well Michelle I'm a male and I too prefer sitting on a boat as opposed to fixing it. Let us know how the project goes.

Yep, we all do, though most of us prefer the gender neutral term 'boater'.

The through-hull fittings you have now are Nylon, which is UV sensitive. When you replace them your options are more nylon thoug-hulls, or stainless steel, bronze, or Marelon.

Bronze is very expensive and will patina green. They won't rust or corrode.

Stainless is the most attractive, and the second most expensive option. When water is mixed in an oxygen free environment, stainless will rust. This occurs in a hidden area.

Marelon iss lightly more expensive than nylon. However it is UV resistant.

Bronze and Marelon are the only two that can be used under the water line.

I, personally, use Marelon.
