Default 1997 4100 scr

Hi. Just digging for info. I am presently looking at a 4100 scr with cummings diesels. I am looking for feedback as to good or bad, problems, engine issues etc. The boat is in great shape. It also has an 8kw westerbeke genny. Thanks in advance.

Not a lot of diesel owners here MJ, a few but not many.

You likely already know, but if you're seriously considering the boat, do have it surveyed and have the engines examined by a certified Cummings technician. There is also a diesel-only website forum that would be a great source of information once you identify which engines the boat has.

Cummings are supposed to be better that Cats. Investigate the cost of maintaining those engines. 41' boats need the diesel power and desiels are more fuel efficient and last longer, but there's a large up front cost and yearly maintance costs as well.

did you know that algae can grow in a diesel tank?

this can run thru the whole fuel system?

that all I know about diesels on a boat, other then fuel is more per gallon the gas.

Mj ......I know alot of Carver and Silverton owners that wish they could of bought the Maxum. Believe it or not the maxum is more money especially with the diesels.

I live in central Illinois...headquarters of the big yellow giant cat no bias here:-)

Good luck
