What chain are you using 2001 4600
The boat came with 5/16 and rode, but specs say 3/8th should be used. I already bought an installed 130' (max UPS weight/len) of new HT G4 from Defender.
I'm on a lake and wont see Ocean level conditions. Should I stick with 5/16 or just order (truck freight) 150' of 3/8th?
I also dont see much options for 3/8th with 5/8 rode if I want to save money/shipping weight.

While I believe it’s undersized it may be ok being a lake boat but the real question is what is the correct size for the windlass? Incorrect sizing can cause issues.

Its a Lewmar with a 002 gypsy which supports both 5/16 and 3/8.
I'm thinking of doing 50' of 3/8th with 150' rode that I believe Defender can make to order. Should be a better cost option and easily under $400 where as 150' 3/8 chain shipped will be close to $1000

I would go that route as well.

I added 250’ of 3/8 chain with a fortress anchor. Haven’t regretted it.

That is a lot of added weight. I had no luck with my two Fortress and a lot of chain on my 41 SCA. Their (Fortress) recommendations might be best to follow. Not a lot of chain with a lot of anchor rode. I couldn't consistently set the LONG chain config....doesn't make sense, but the Fortress recommended config. worked best.
BTW, I have a "almost new" FX 37 Fortress for sale. Hope I'm not breaking any site rules.

You can list it under a thread in the for sale section.

I use the Rocna sizing guide for anchor chain. They admit to sizing agressive and recommend not upsizing from their recommendations.
They are calling for 3/8" G40. The category that can use either 5/16 or 3/8 ends at 28K lbs or less. Dry, specs for your boat are 30K.
I'd personally replace it with 3/8" G40. The wind doesn't care about the salinity of the water it blows across.
