Default Westerbeke 7.2KW BCGTC - 60HZ only putting out 80 volts

I have a 1999 3700SCR With a Westerbeke 7.2KW BCGTC - 60HZ generator. It is only putting out 80 volts running at 60HZ. The govenor pump has just been maintained and is in good operating order. I suspect the capacitors and possibly the Diodes. Has anyone replaced these? I have the shop manual for the generator but it is not clear how to take the generator apart to access the parts. I am hoping disassembly can be done with the generator still in the boat and in the tray. It looks like the control box needs to be removed. to access the a opening in the plastic field coil cover. Can the generator end cover and plastic field coil cover be removed with the generator still bolted in the tray on the transom? If you have diode and capacitor replacement part numbers that can be obtained from a non westerbeke source that would be great also. William Ferrell posted in a thread that diodes where SKR 26/26 from alliedelec.com and Capacitors where 05m2914 from element14, but he stated he had a 7.0 KW Westerbeke. I suspect he really ment he had a 7.2KW westerbeke. All help would be greatly appreciated

This Turned out to be the Capacitor Part number MMD 46089 it is 31.5 MFD $52.00 (not westerbeke saved $) . To get to it you must pull of the westerbeke electrical control box, remove the control box mount frame top two screws, lift and slide aft the generators center plastic cover to remove it. The capacitor is wire tied to one of the internal casing bolts. Snip the ties replace the capacitor. and reassemble in reverse. When you do a job like this, you will question the engineering design skills used by Westerbeke unless you like to stand on head while performing mechanical work.

Dean, did that solve it? Mine is a 5.0kw, puts out about 105 volts most of the time. Was beginning to think about chasing that down.

Yes I am back to running a constant 125 volts at 60 hertz. First check your govenor pump it should have its oil replaced every 200 hours. check to make sure your engine is putting out the proper hertz probably a 60 hertz. Hertz is adjusted by engine speed at the govenor pump. If that does not solve it you are in for the deep dive like me. let me know what you find out I may be able to help. I have some compatible capacitors for some westerbeke gens and some capacitors.
most likely if the above does not fix it your looking at capacitors, diodes, suppressors. This assumes all your windings are good which I would expect to be.

Thanks for the feedback, I am sure this will benefit others
