My advice is to grab one of those little table top models, like this Newair AI-215SS Stainless Steel Portable Ice Maker With 18 Hour Timer ... you add the water and plug it in; it makes ice until it's full. My dad has one of these, works well. This 50lb/day model goes on sale for close to $200. There are smaller 28lb/day models for well under $200 on sale.
