Generator threw a rod!

Argh! Went to start the generator on my 1998 3200SCR (Westerbeke 4.5KW) and had a terrible time starting it. Finally got it to catch and had a terrible rod knock sound! Shut it down immediately before it broke itself it pieces!

Now what? Can't rebuild it in place - access is terrible. Only thing I can think of is to pull an engine to pull it and have it rebuilt. Any ideas / suggestions?

I would try to fix it in its place! unless you can remove it in one piece.

Hire someone to fix it .. that sounds like a crappy job to complete.

If you end up pulling the engine to get it out, replace your coupler while it's out.
