Default Generator exhaust hose question 3200 SCR

On my 96 3200 SCR, there are 2 exhaust hoses, for whatever reason, for the genny.
The hose that is routed to exit exhaust under the swim platform, has been abandoned.
The second hose, which IS the working hose, exits out the stdbrd side of the boat. Why would there be two, and which one is factory?

The hose under the swim platform was a bad idea as exhaust fumes can be sucked into the boat by the station wagon effect while under way. Not sure how it came from the factory but the way it is hooked up now is what you want.

My 1994 had a factory recall. They moved the gen exhaust from under the rear swim platform to exit on the starboard side. They removed all evidence of the old system. I found the paperwork is how I know.

That looks like what the story was here then. They left the hose and all there. Just up high enough not to leak, I suppose.

"Factory Recall" simply means the work is warrantied by the factory and the dealer will get reimbursed by the factory, not the customer for the work done. However, the dealer does the actual work. The quality of work will vary from dealer to dealer and from mechanic to mechanic.

Leaving the through-hull fitting and the hose was cheaper and easier than doing transom and fiberglass repairs. This might have been how the dealer made some profit on the recall.

My 95 3200 SCR has the genny exhaust port under the swim platform. I removed the genny a while ago (old, rusted, broken) and capped off the hole.

I would cap off the hole. leaving a hose, no matter how high up makes me nervous.

All it would take is a good stern wave to flood the hose that would begin siphoning in, until the swim platform was under water, and sink the boat.

I saw a really weird solution to that once. He didn't want to do the fiberglass work to fix the hole and didn't want to plug the hose. Solution?

Drill another hole through the hull above the waterline, then install a through hull fitting. Connect loose (other) end of hose to new through hull fitting. A water 'PassThrough'. LMFAO!!!!!
