Default Compass 3200

Although my compass works, it seems like maybe it's missing the fluid? (Is it supposed to be full of fluid?)

Yes Jim you need the fluid! This is a common cause of compass failure! You can get them rebuilt for around the same price of a new one.

Yes the fluid dampens the rose movement so it does not just spin widely from wave action. There should be a fill screw.

Try googling but I think some use mineral oil.

I looked into this when my Danforth did what yours did . Ritchie does rebuilt them . 5 or 6 years ago the cost was around 60 bucks. Google their website.

I had mine redid on my 3200, with new glass, fluid, and light. $90. Thing looks literally new (the new glass is awesome), highly recommend replacing the glass if you can.

Sun does horrible damage to the glass. That is why we cover ours with a white rag when i'm not running.
