So the canvas on my boat could use some freshening up. There's a set on eBay by "harvard marine" (1999 2007 Maxum 3300SCR Boat Canvas Enclosure New | eBay), but $3,900? That's more than I paid a year and a half ago for a good running fresh water '89 Wellcraft Eclipse 233, including a LoadRite tandem axle trailer. Anyone know what the going rate is for a canvas enclosure for a 3300?
We had this question by someone else a little while ago. Harvard marine does not make their own if fact they get it from leta's top shop.They buy from other makers so their price will be higher. If you are going for cheap and can do things like put snaps in get a hold of leta's top shop. They have the factory templates. All you do is put in the snaps. It not a bad deal for the price and if you are handy.
Now if you are not and wanting to have a canvas that is exactly what you want and realize you get what you pay for go to your local canvas shop and inquire.
Thank you sir - I'm pretty handy especially with mechanical type stuff, but never got in to upholstery. Never too late to try, I suppose, and am leaning towards that to save a few bucks. Thanks for the tips and will let you know for sure.
Can you provide more specifics about the scope of the project?
-> Canvas in front of the radar arch?
-> Canvas behind the radar arch?
-> Isinglass front and sides in front of the radar arch?
-> Isinglass side and back behind radar arch?
-> Is framework already present?
We did canvas and front and side isinglass in front of the radar arch only and we had the framework already in place. This was done 2 years ago for around $2,500.
We had a rear extension of canvas along with a small bit of framework and side and rear isinglass done about 6 years ago for around $1,500.
All the framework is there and in good shape. The canvas aft of the radar arch looks serviceable ... the roof portion looks good, and the side and rear curtains appear clear and in good shape with functional snaps and zippers. It's the components fore of the radar arch that look to have taken a beating. The stitching along the fore edge of the roof portion is about 1/4 undone, and the front and side clear panels are discolored (with a tear in one of them). You can kind of see it in the attached pic - unfortunately I don't have any really good pictures.
If the canvas is in good shape just get whatever needs it re sew. I just got a portion of my bimini done last year good for another 5 years. Have a canvas guy come out and get his opinion on how to fix everything. This might save you some time and trouble.
