Default Bilge Pump

4600 SCB ‘01

Anyone have their forward bilge pump lose power, both through the switch and the hot wire? We’re on the road and I didn’t want to get into tracing from the battery/helm. I’ve temporarily run a hot line so the pump works but was hoping it was something others have experienced. The CB under the helm appears OK.

Thanks

Perhaps a fuse in the power panel where the battery switches (big round battery switches Port & Stbd) are located. On my SCA this panel is located next to the stairs down to the salon.

Thanks…. I have the same set of CBs behind the hatch where my 50 amp service connects and they were the first I checked.

Just to make sure....these are glass fuses (old style) ..... not CB's.

Thanks, I’ll take a look. Didn’t think I had any conventional fuses but I’m still learning after owning the boat for 12 years.

THANKS!

You were absolutely correct. The fuse was blown. I was so focused on CBs I completely ignored the most basic component.

Did you lose both auto and manual power? The manual power comes from the helm rocker and I've been fixing wire rot since I bought my 46 '01 back in Oct. Its on fresh water now, but was in salt for its first 14 years.

Isn't the glass fuse by the the shore power for the "auto" live wire?

There's at least two plastic harness couplings in the flybridge... one in the helm and the other behind the access panels by the stairs.

There's a DC circuit breaker panel at the underside of the helm. All three of the bilge pumps have red pop-out breakers. I've never seen a glass fuse on any of my bilge pumps.

On my '99 SCA there is a panel with the large/circular power switches for the port and Std. engines. In that panel are several breakers and several glass fuse circuits. Perhaps you have that also on the 4600 SCB? If so, check those glass fuses for the bilge/sump pumps.

You're correct. The "glass" fuses in the AFT hatch area are more for things like stereo memory. There's like 4 glass fuses I think

I forgot about the helm breakers, but the auto bilge and manual bilge should be on different circuits. I'll have to double check what labels are on the glass fuses tomorrow.

On my 41 SCA - 6 glass fuses - 3 are for AFT, MID and FWD bilge pumps. Perhaps like yours? Check those first.
