Default Battery charger

So in addition to other repairs/modifications to our new to us 2004 3100se I need to replace the battery charger. Most of the new chargers are plug while mine is hard wired to the electrical panel. Anyone see a problem with cutting the plug of the new charger and splicing wires to the boats wiring that goes to the electrical panel switch/breaker?

That is what I did when I installed my new charger.

Or you could wire in an outlet.
