Default Anchor for 4600 ,Which holds best?

When I bought my 4600 I think the anchor that came with it is undersized. I know there are allot of anchors out there and the prices varies as well. Any feedback for a great holding power anchor would help with my decision. Thanks in advance.

You may be surprised how small of an anchor it takes if you have the right rode and are using it properly. The current issue of BoatUS magazine has a good article on anchor rodes.

Hard to say without knowing the bottom conditions.

Sand?
Mud?
Grass?
Rock?

A 35lb Lewmar Delta should do it and grabs great, but if you want to go bigger they make a 44lb as well. Priced right at $200-$300.. made in china but they hold up quite well over the years. They also make a Stainless version of both if you want to burn some $.

FYI: I merged all posts into the original thread and deleted the duplicate.

As for anchors, I'm a fan of either Rocna or Manson Supreme. I believe the 4600 runs around 30,000 -31,000 lbs. Rocna sizing has you at at a 33Kg (73lb) anchor with 3/8" chain. Mason Supreme has you on a 60lb. Note that Rocna specifically states it oversizes it's anchor in the sizing chart. Both have good resources on anchors and anchoring. I've used both and would personally not use anything else.

We have an Ultra and we run 120 ft of 5/8" chain. I replaced a CQR that had let me down. The Ultra has been outstanding in all types of bottoms. We are in bays where we spin regularly and the Ultra has a reset capacity that is unmatched. Best purchase we made, the downside is they aren't cheap. I never understood boaters that tried to save $50 on an anchor when it is holding a boat worth 100's of thousands...

Once you have the correct size anchor for your foot and weight of boat the next thing you must consider is what are your lake/ ocean bottom conditions. Sand, mudd, and rock bottoms for example warrant consideration of a specific anchor design for best holding power.
