Default 96 3200 SCR owners question

Did your boat come with screens for the little windows on the sides of the boat?
I have the big round ones, but haven't found any of the little ones.
Just curious.

I wish they were better designed, they fall out easily. My 3200 is now missing all 4 so i would be interested in the info as well. I read somewhere that someone passed a fishing line through the screen and then secured it, this way the screens don't fall out.

I saw somewhere on ebay, they want $59.99 EACH for those!
I refuse to pay that. I will figure out how to fabric my own and sell to you all for $5.00.
Merry Christmas! (or whatever you celebrate or don't celebrate!)

We make our own. We loose then every now and then. I think in 7-8 years we've lost 4-5. Two this year, none last year. We lose the ones in the vberth in rough seas after repeatedly stuffing into big waves for a length of time.

We keep one of the original screens aside to use as a template. This template never gets installed. This way we don't start making copies, from copies, from copies.

Find some thin flexible plastic stock from a Home Stock along with some screening.
Trace the template onto the sheet. Cut the sheet. Glue the screen. Trim the screen.

It doesn't need to be THAT pretty. Trust me, once it's installed you can't tell it's not stock. The biggest deal is to not distort the flexible plastic frame when gluing the screen and making sure the screen is smooth. Tolerance are tricky. There is little room for error. a mm too large, and the entire screen warps when installed. a mm too small and it falls out in a light breeze.

I replaced all of mine and they actually fit in a rubber groove . When you open the porthole you can peel the rubber strip back and it will fit in that groove and will never fall out. I paid $15 each for them and ordered them through west marine.
