I have a 1998 with 7.4 and V-drives. I track the hours and mileage (GPS) for each tank of fuel. We fill up and will run until the tanks (2x 124 gallons) are just below 1/4. We typically cruise at 1200 rpm (6.6 mph) and rarely get up on plane. Our average between fill ups is 6.5 MPH at 1.28 MPG.

Those fuses are in the cabinet on the main deck, on the panel with your battery switches, right below the switches.
