I've been on a 3500 SY with 6.2. If you don't care about speed, then they are good to go. Solid motor and fairly easy to work on. You have a decent amount of space in the bilge on a 3500 to work on them.
The 3500s came with the 8.1 as well.. just something to think about as gas prices are dropping slightly .

HI Rodney,
I own one with 6.2's, its a great boat all around, it handles nice, plenty of power, I put my dinghy on my extended swim platform we load it to go on trips and it handles beautiful. Mine is for sale because I'm looking to go a little bigger, let me know if you are interested I'll send you some pictures.
