Question 2 burner electric cook top

has anyone replaced the original ORIGO 120 volt cook top? It appears that my boat had the Swedish International model. Parts are not available any longer that I can find. Would appreciate any recommendations. I have done a good deal of research and there are many replacements available but the "cut out" dimension that I have to work with does not match what I have in my MAXUM (the MAXUM is smaller). I really do not want to get into cutting the counter top.

Thanks,
MM

Swego is the sole (I believe) distributor of Origo stove parts in the US. Their website is http://www.swego.com/store/pc/home.asp . There are lots of parts listed there; if not you can try calling them.

I have the 2500E single burner recessed alcohol/electric 120V stove, and there is a known problem with the circuit card. A capacitor burns out; I replaced the capacitor and it ran for a bit, then conked out again, so I may bring the whole unit to an appliance shop to see if they can fix it, or buy a new PCB for the thing through Swego.

the origo stoves would get a voltage spike and blows that diode....there are about 3 or 4 diodes right there that will blow ...so..if you replace it...you need to go up in size of the diode....I had mine do that and I called origo..they sent me a new card for free...it was a matter of 5 min. to replace and it worked ever since....give them a call...they usually do stand by thier eqpt....

I tried calling Swego after reading previous posts about a free replacement but they said I would need to buy a new PCB. I looked for a # for Origo but couldn't find one; if you have it and can pass it along, I'd appreciate it.

What you're saying makes sense; I went with a diode that was about 3 volts lower than the OEM one I found in the unit (45 vs 48 if I remember right) because that's the closest Radio Shack had, although the microfarads were the same at 200. It worked initially but then failed again. From what you said SP that would make sense to step up the voltage instead of down.

yep...you need to go to a higher voltage and not increase the microfarads....so..if it's controlling 12 vdc..then you need to up it to 28vdc....then it should be good...

I'll see if I can dig up a number for origo...

Hi SP,

Thanks. I called Sure Marine. The tech that works on ORIGO (TODD) is going to return my call. Maybe just maybe he can supply the part that I need for the unit.
You have been a great help!

Thanks SP, I spoke with Rick at Sure Marine who was very helpful. Although no complimentary replacement card was offered, his price for a replacement was much better than Swego, and he spoke about what might be wrong with the one I have. I'm going to try replacing diodes when the shrink wrap comes off the boat and see where I get, and if no where then replace the card. Tom.

Issue is solved! Todd at Sure Marine returned from vacation, called me, identified the part to pictures that I had sent him, and BINGO! The part is in route to me, as I post this information. I will recommend Sure Marine to other boat owners. No question.

Special thanks to you SP. You saved my $%$#@!.....
