1998 MAXUM 3700 SCR - Winterization
I know, I know, too early to talk Winterization but I have to pull first week in October due to other commitments and I'm getting nervous about the process on twin fresh water cooled engines. This will be my first winterization for my new '98 3700 SCR with twin Merc 7.4 MPI. Although I've done my other boats in the past, this is my first time with fresh water cooled and it sounds a bit easier, thus my apprehension. I've seen a video on a device called Sea Flush for entering the pink stuff into the engine, A/C and Generator strainer units. Has anyone used it or is there a better, different way to introduce the pink antifreeze through the system? Also, how do I tell if my SCR has a heat link from the engines that may need attention? I've only used the cold air function.
Lastly, How do you "fog" out the engines with Mystery Oil as it doesn't have a carb, down the air filter hole?
I'm planning oil/filter changes and since I don't know history, new spark plugs, too.
I feel confident on the process for the water and head systems but somewhere I saw a video on adding Clorox to the Holding tank after the final pump out. Is that typical or not?
Any tips, advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you from Charlestown, MD
