Default windless anchor

I have a 2000 3000SCR it does not have a windless. I want to add a windless to the boat, looking to see how it's mounted on Maxums that came with a windless. It appears the wiring is in the anchor compartment. Any advice or pics would be helpful.

The main thing is to align where the rode comes off the windlass gypsy with the center of the pulpit roller.

Hopefully a person that has done you what to do will chime in. I know that doesn't help you at the moment, but for what it's worth the wiring should be there. You need a wiring diagram to help you . You also will be cutting holes out for your up and down pads that you're going to install. When you buy your windless maybe all this will be in your kit. And yes what Mike said.

Good luck

Additionally I’ve seen windlasses one of two ways for direction control. The first simply flips + and - polarities on the motor and the other method has two separate winding each wound in opposite direction from the other with a common - connection. Power is applied to one winding for up and the other winding for down. In either case there is a contactor which does this and is controlled by the helm switches and foot switches if added.

Lewmar vertical windlass is what was installed by the factory. A V1 would be great. A v700 would work, but maybe a little small.

Default Windless

I had the same situation on my 2007 2400se. The windless was prewired. I purchased a Lewmar v700g with there chain/rope and it works perfectly. I also installed foot switches. My windless switch wires
We’re also in the dash, no switch but the wires were pre installed. I have an attachment of the windless.
It’s the only way to go. Well worth it.

So are you telling me that Maxum installed the windlass on my 3200 incorrectly? Say it ain't so!

I'm pretty sure this was all OEM, but is it possible that it was originally a horizontal windlass?

I don’t think that’s the original windlass but it doesn’t look like there was any other option based on the deck footprint. If it works leave it be but yes ideally it sould be inline.

BTY a lot of these was installed by the dealer and not the factory.

I've never seen a Lofrans windlass on any boat made by Brunswick. However, stuff gets replaced all the time. With the warping drum, that is an upgrade.

Maxum would have installed a vertical windlass, and the base was aligned by them. If the original had a smaller diameter gypsy, then the angle of pull would possibly have been less.

Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put some seizing wire on that anchor shackle.

I installed a Lewmary on my 2400SCR. Though I was told the wiring would be there.....it wasn't lol. Had to run my own wire to the back. Not horribly difficult but definitely took some time. One of the best things I installed on my boat. Best was adding an AC unit

Shrew,

That picture was from before we bought the boat. I added it to my to-do list right away, and it's since been seized (I hope properly). The top of the swivel had a cotter pin in it, and I hope that's also acceptable. Here is an updated picture:
