windlass not gripping

hi guys, i was out on the weekend and this is a first,,, using the windlass i dropped anchor but when it finally gripped the bottom the windless did not grip the rope, it kept coming through as the wind took the boat back, are there any ajustments i might need to make on the windless?

i have a 2001 scr2800

Is your rode the right diameter for the windlass and what windlass do you have???
