Default Trim gauges

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know what could be causing both of my trim gauges to respone erratically. The drives appear to be operating fine But the gauges are all over the place. Just put the boat in the water and last season they worked fine. I did have the drives pulled and serviced over the winter could they have done something?

Check all your wire connections, especially grounds.

Both Alpha and Bravo Mercruser drives have the drive trim sending unit and the trailer position sending unit mounted on each side the upper gear housing trim pivot pins, if the sender calibration lock screws are not tight the sender is not able to start from a calibrated position and therfore will not read the same twice and will be allowed to move each time you raise or lower the drive. Uunfortunately this requires pulling the boat out of the water if the boat is slipped. To calibrate you must trim the drives all the way down then have an assistant turn the ignition key on then adjust the correct sender till your assitant at the helm gauge reads all the way down. Then lock the calibration screw. Repeat for the twin.

Hope it helps.
