Default Swim Platform for 01 2400SCR

Hey everyone!

Looking to add a bigger swim platform to my boat. Friend at the marina has one by Swim Platforms and it looks really nice. Where my concern is on the added weight right to the back of stern. Platform weighs approx. 110lbs. I have the 5.0 engine with an Alpha 1 gen 2 drive. I already feel it's quite a bit under powered, and not sure adding extra weight is going to be a good thing, or if I can just overcome with the trim tabs at takeoff. I scuba dive, so the existing platform is a bit tight and would love some extra room back there. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

I would install bigger trim tabs with drop down fins to help compensate.

Already did that last year. Upgraded to 12x12 and the Bennett auto system.

Switching to a Bravo 2 or 3 drive would be a big help but it’s a large investment have to change the transom assembly and drive. I think there is an old post where someone did this on a 2400 but don’t recall if they mentioned any performance issues.

Lol, just replaced the drive and transom last year. Hit a big ass rock and killed em. So that isn't in the cards. It rides with my big Yeti full to the brim....that is more near my back seat table vs the very back, but prob close in weight. So I think I may be ok. I just don't want to put it on and then find I can't get up on plane, kinda too late at that point lol.

Another option would be use mainly chain for your anchor rode, the added bow weight will counteract rear weight to a degree but added weight is more load on the engine.

I have the extended platform on my 2500.
Its like added seating.
I know it effects me getting on plane, but I would not give it up.
Im sure if I had bigger trim tabs like you I would be fine.
5.0 MPI motor.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Decided to hold off on the platform for now. Just don't think I have the power for it. If I ever (hopefully never, but know that isn't true) repower, I will pop a 5.7 in there and call it a day. But until then, I'm gonna stick with the stubby platform.
