Default raw water strainer.

I have a maxum 2400 scr with a mercruiser 5.0/ alpha 1 . I have spent some time getting familiar with the engine, to try to learn where everything is. I have learned a lot. But one thing I havent been able to find yet is the sea water strainer. I havent spotted it in the engine compartment. Could it be that the water filter (screen) is in the stern drive water intake? and is it maintenance free. Thanks

The holes on the side of the outdrive are your strainer.
