Question on Thru Hull Locations 2400SCR
Hello,
Just picked up a 2001 2400SCR. I noticed one of the Thru hulls was snapped off and missing from the Starboard side, so figured I should replace all of them. I was able to find the 3 midship Stbd side by removing the fridge. And the rear ones are accessible from the engine compartment (kinda...gonna be a tight squeeze!!). But I cannot seem to find how to get to the Galley Sink and Step Drain ones. I'm sure they are behind something, but I can't think of where and would like to avoid ripping out things unnecessarily. Anyone able to provide some insight on how to get access to them? Thanks!!!!

The galley sink should be accessible from inside the sink cabinet. The step thru hull is accessible from the mid-berth compartment, forward port side.

Ok, so I found where I can see the drain coming down from inside the cabin. But how the heck do you actually reach it? Maybe if I was the size of a small cat lol. I can see the elbow where the drain itself comes down but do not see how I would be able the access the outside fitting even a little. Is it the same type of fitting as the others that has the barb coming off it and the big plastic nut? Or does it just thread right into the elbow and is threaded on from the outside? I don't want to touch it and break something if it's going to be a nightmare. It appears to be ok, by was just changing as maintenance.

The tru hull is the same as the rest of them. I don’t recall but I may have had to remove a panel to access the hose clamp.

Makes sense. It honestly looks like it is fine. So I think I may just leave it alone. Seems a lot more involved than I thought lol.

The through hulls are 20 years old and they're nylon. They all need to be replaced. They break because nylon breaks down in UV. IF one snapped, then they are all ready to snap. To remove mine, I stick a flathead screw driver inside (from the outside) and apply pressure up or down. You would be surprised how brittle they are.
I'd replace with either Marelon or Bronze. Stainless Steel only works with oxygen. Water and the absence of oxygen will rust SS and make them as unreliable as nylon. If cost is an issue, then go with Marelon, which is UV resistant.

Yeah, that was my plan to replace all of them. But didn't realize how difficult they are to get to. The one from the step drain concerns me the most since it is right at the water line on the port side. But I can't seem to find how to access it. I've done 5 of the 10 so far, all on the STBD side. I think I found a panel in my little closet area in the cabin. I'm going to try removing that and see if I can access it. Wish I had an Oompa Loompa to help lol.

I was on my boat today and looked in the midberth and remembered that I had to remove the footboard to access the thru hull. It’s held on by a few L brackets.
