The proper term for what many call fresh water cooled. It is a heat exchanger that contains antifreeze to cool the engine (half system) or engine and exhaust manifolds ( full system). Raw water flows through one side of the heat exchanger to carry away the heat just like air flows over a cars radiator to remove heat from the closed cooling loop.

Engine has a radiator like your car. Lake water cools the radiator which in turn cools the engine.

i have a 1993 scr 23 foot.maxum . with a 98 350 magnum 260 horse. cant stear at low idle. stears ok at cruse speeds. i bought this from 3 owner swore everything was ok.Not cant back into my slip without someone help to guide me in with a dock pole. at low idle stearing wheel all over the place. HELP.

Slow speed wonder is an issue with a single screw. Have you compared this to similar boats? Practice is required to learn how each boat responds to current and wind especially when backing.

I have a 1992 maxum 2300 SCR as well bought about a month ago and know nothing about it and can’t find any info anywhere!!! Went from bay liner curry cabin to maxum 2300 scr cabin cruiser anybody know where a manual is??!! Or know anything about them like about the water tanks etc I’m new to the boat…

Ck the Mercruiser web site with you s/n and the will be able to tell you the gear ratio.
