Hi all
Yet another problem....Murphy’s Law methinks
....so the ladder fell down at an angle when reversing with the inevitable sound of metal on metal resulting in a badly damaged starboard prop.....waiting on a new one
But what’s weird is that there is now a pulse/hum when at low speeds/reva from the port engine/legs (mercury 4.2TD 220 with single props)....some additional background ....there was some play in steering before prop strike but ...the mechanic apparently redid the legs for the PO just before she went back in the water and he reckons some play in legs is normal...and just had a bad fuel leak which emptied the port tank completely so engine cut out
So two questions Is play in the legs normal? And is the hum/pulse temporary due to fuel issue and crap from the tank or something else
Thanks again for all the help as I am a total newbie to boating but based on car experience play in steering and pulsing engines isn’t good
Cheers
J
