Default Hi from Scotland

Hi folks,

My first post and looking for some info, I have paid a deposit on a 1998 2300 SC and have arranged for a test drive this Saturday on loch lomond.
At the moment I have a bayliner Capri 175, had this for about 8 years and had a fletcher arrowflyte 14 for 5 years before that.
The boat has had a new 5.7l engine fitted in the last year and only done a couple of hours before it was winterised by the same dealer that fitted it.
It has the bravo 3 outdrive, in the water at the moment so can't get much of a look at that ( boat being lifted out the water after the test drive ) gel coat a bit faded but not much damage so should polish out with a compound.
Will be checking every switch, gauge on the test drive but anything else I should be looking out for ?
Will check water tap in cuddy, anchor (windlas is that right)
Any help or info would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance

David

David welcome board.

new engine but are the manifolds and elbows new? When was the water pump impeller last charged? I recommend checking engine temps with a handheld IR thermal sensor, block, heads, manifolds, elbows.
Check gear lube by removing the drain plug for a second to look for water.
How old is the fuel?

good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi Mike,

I appreciate you taking the time to reply, I will and check everything within my ability and anything else I will try and get someone with better knowledge than me to check it out.

Welcome Aboard David M!!!

Depending on how much money you're spending, you may want to consider having a marine survey performed on the vessel.

Also considering that option, don't think it's overpriced and I'm also trading in my bayliner, will see how the test drive goes , what works and what doesn't then make up my mind from there.
Cheers for the advice shrew.

Well I'm now the proud owner of a maxum 2300sc, test drive went well, manifold and risers are new and after a good power wash the gel coat didn't look too bad either, heading back up this weekend with the polisher to hopefully get her sparkling.
Will upload some pictures later as the iPad ain't playing ball.
