Default has any one install a windless on 01 maxum 2500

I was thinking about installing a windless on my boat i went out and looked and i see that in the rope locker i have wires that are heavy gage and guessing it would be for a windless. I have looked on here and couldnt find some one that has did this or couldnt find it. What im wanting to know is this hard to wire up and were do the wires go that are in the rope locker. And also on a boat this size do you think its worth the time to even install one, i think it would be a nice option to have. If any one has installed one please let me know what you think and how hard it was to do.

thanks for any input you have brandon

I installed one in my 2003 2400 SE, There's a panel overhead on the starboard side of the aft cabin where the relays are suppose to go. The loose wires are located there. From there you can feed the instrument console. I found the power wiring in engine compartment rolled up and tucked into the cavity alongside the waste tank. I used a Lowrance Simpson 600. Moved the bow cleat. I also bought a Delta plow anchor with 15 feet of 1/4" chain. . It sets everytime. The line rolls up nicely. Surprised me.

Default Maxum 2003 2400 SE Windlass install

I don't know if the photos show enough. I located the windlass as close to the bow as I could. I had to add a second roller for the anchor to keep the chain from rubbing the deck. I mounted the relay in the anchor locker. I have a 40 amp circuit breaker in the engine bay, and as I previously stated, there was a panel in the overhead of the aft cabin that hid the loose wires.

I still have it, Beat up the case some getting it out. I'll check it out electrically and see if it's ok, I know it didn't leak.

Call me at 941-726-1415

Ok so you removed it, I was wondering if you had relocated it to fit the large battery. Mine is fine.

I was tired of trying to crawl around it, over it, and it made accessing the oil filter a real chore and mess. Last week I changed the manifolds and risers and it made it a breeze.

I too would like to install a windlass on my 01 2500 SCR. The 2500 seems to differ a bit from the 03 2300 SE in that the windlass probably installs under the anchor well hatch. I would like to see pictures of that specific installation if anyone has any. Thanks

I am also looking at installing a windlass on my 2500 SCR. I found a pair of heavy gauge wires attached to the top of the chain locker. The problem is, I can't find the end of it! It enters the locker from 1 side and seems to exit on the other. Could it be the windlass pre wired installation from the factory? Could it be for something else? I just can't figure it out! I also tried to find the other end in the engine compartment, behind the console, etc..... No successé Can someone help me with this one?
Thanks.

Yes, the windlass is pre-wired from the factory on later models.

Default Windlass and horn upgrade

In your pictures I see that you have dual horns which I am also considering to install while I am installing the windlass. Are those OEM horns of after market. My '97 2400 SCR has a wimpy horn that is useless when in need.
