Default Freshwater System Leak

Hello.

I have noticed that whenever I fill my freshwater tank that most of it leaks out. It has done this since we have purchased the boat. Over the week I am going to make an attempt to fix.

Does anyone know where I should look for leaks or any common places that this would be at? I would think that it would be due to a poor-winterizing, but I am not sure since I bought this used.

the good news is that is all platic stuff and cheap to fix.

the easy way to find you leak, is fill the tank with 2 gallons of the pink non toxic anti freeze, then look for pink water......

then tell us where you find the pink puddles.

also, what kinda boat it is.

could be as simple as a clamp or a valve gasket.

Welcome aboard Morgan Grafstein!!!! Start at the holding tank and start following the line to the pump, then to the hotwter heater as well as the cold side to all faucets. It's typicallyeither a connector somewhere or possibly the hot water heater itself. Psacavone had a great idea with using pink propylene glycol. Lets us know what you find.

morgan...welcome to the zoo...the leaks are usually found at the joints and fittings of the water lines...some may need to be reseated...they come apart easily and just snap back in....try that and let us know how it works out...

Since the boat is a '93, they are probably all the screw type compression fittings and not the snap on style. If you replace with the snap on style, be prepared to possible change out some water line. The screw-on compression style can sometimes mushroom the water line. This makes it very difficult to get it to snap onto a snap style connector. If you're replacing water line, make sure to get yourself a hose cutter. It makes quick, clean cuts.
