That is your float switch and should be wired straight to the battery.

Yup it’s just a standard bilge pump. Match the largest pump that will fit the discharge hose.

I'd make sure your float switch is working before you buy the new pump. You can get them with the float built right in for basically the same money as a pump that requires a separate pump. I can shoot you the type and a pic of the one I got in just a bit. I don't think it was very expensive.
