Default changing ratio on my bravo2 out drive???

what would happen if i changed the ratio from 1.81 to 2.0 on my bravo two outdrive. i have a 454 Mercrusier engine 300 HP single screw. the current outdrive case is shot. lots of corrosion. any help would be great!

SCR 2700 Maxum 1993 has trim tabs

thanks, mike

The performance of the boat will change; time to plane, WOT. You may be able to compensate by re-propping, BII props are not cheap though.

Yes the WOT will be lower and the bottom end performance a little better.

works better expected. i also put a "whale tail " on the out drive and it pops right up on plane and i get 5-7 mph better at WOT. not sure why but i will take it.

Don't argue with success.

Changing the gear ratio because the drive case is shot makes no sense. I agree that you would be better off ensuring you're properly propped.

drive foils like the whale's tale is giving you lift on the outdrive, which is transferring pressure to the transom assembly. The drive was not designed to have lift or plane the hull. There is a reason outdrive manufacturers have not redesigned their outdrive to include this lifting element from the factory.
