Default Buy or not Buy ? 4.3 Ltrs V-6 power

Considering a 1997 Maxum 3000 SCR with twin 4.3 ltrs V6s.....how will the power be and what can I expect for initial "Planing" and cruising ? What should I expect for cruising speed and "Top" speed ? Will the boat be underpowered with 4 adults for a day of cruising ? I'm not a speed demon, so cruise at 27-30 mph and topping out at 35 or so would suite me fine .. boat is super clean and Boatel kept for the last 5 years.. OPINIONS PLEASE ??

Welcome aboard

IMO if these were newer MPI 4.3 rated at 220 HP then it would meet the speeds you described. Although 4 adults may not be bad with the original 4.3's just don't think you'll achieve 35 mph.

I'll let some of the folks with this model express their feeling although I believe most prefer the 5.0's. Note the older 5.0 have about the same HP as the MPI 4.3.

I have 2001 2800scr with twin carb. 4.3 and am happy with would it performance. Tab full down, full power planes well with 4 person in the cockpit. stay on plane well @ 3100 rpm about 26 mph and rides nice @ that RPM in 2' to 4' foot sea. do my boating in the northeast and most day the sea conditions won't let you cruise much fast.
Good Luck hope this helps
