Default Bravo 3 seal and Bearing removal.

My bearing carrier/seal on my Bravo 3 was pitted and looked pretty bad.
On top of that I was getting a small amount of oil on the inside of the props, so seemed to make sense it was my outer seal that needed replacing.
Due to the corrosion on the carrier itself I decided I would buy the whole assembly, new bearing and seal all in one.
Expensive but much easier and longer lasting than just doing the seal, My thought.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this as a 3-4.
The hardest part was breaking the nuts and unscrewing, lots of wrenching.

With a breaker bar i was careful to apply a lot of pressure, but saw no movement, so very lightly while apply pressure with the breaker bar i tapped the end of the special wrench lightly.
Thats all it took, 5 or 6 light taps while applying pressure.

One thing I noticed( maybe in my head but dont thing so),was props turned easier now.

Tips: Hammer lightly while someone applies breaker bar force 150lbs tq setting on bolt, so its tight. when i say lightly I dont mean nail in wood force just tap.
2. it loosens turning clockwise, all other nuts are normal.
3. If you grease the shaft and threads after servicing, wipe off any grease on threads, as it seems to create to much resistance when re tighting and loosing, grease everything else with spline or good marine grease.
The mechanic told me he was worried that it had not been off in 22 years, and he might crack the lower case.
Thats when i decided I would do the job myself.
if i ****ed it up at least I know I did everything I could to remove it myself. 1st picture new carrier on drive, 2nd picture old carrier and oil dripping out between props. 3rd picture old carrier.
