Default Best Props for 2000 2800SCR

What is the best prop combination for a 2000 2800SCR running a 454?

I am currently running 3 blade 22 pitch and it takes quite a while to get up on plane.

What drive and gear ratio do you have? What is your current WOT with this propeller?

I don't know the ratio, WOT is about 4900rpm and 33mph.

If it's single 454 with a Bravo III, then it should be 2 x 3 blade 22.5 pitch.

Call the guys at Hill Marine they are great to work with and know thier stuff. I have a buddy with the same boat and when he installed their 4 blade props it was a completely different boat. He always struggled to get on plane until he switched props.

The 4 Blade props from Hill will work fine as well. Also look at where you're keeping weight. Coolers in the back, people sitting on the transom seat will all adversely impact time to plane.

When we had our 2800 we used to put the coolers down below all the way forward, along with the honda 2K generator and the dingy. If people were on the boat, they all moved as far forward in the cockpit as possible. Once on plane, people could move around as they like.

My buddy use to have to be concerned about how he loaded his 2800 as well. He would even have people move to the cabin to plane. It would drive me crazy to have to do all that.

His boat was a real pig until he changed to the Hill 4 blade props. I feel the 2800 is under powered with a single engine.

I agree. Or at least....certainly right on the edge. Full of gear or full of people it can be a pig without weight distribution. Once on plane, it was fine.

Going on vacation, loaded with extra beer, larger coolers, full fuel and water you definitely noticed the difference. But then again, with all the weight I described earlier down below and forward, it ran great in heavy seas. I installed a couple of folding pad eyes on the bulkhead base of the V berth about 1 foot above the cabin sole and used cam strap tie downs to hold everything in place.

Every time we use our boats it's at least a 4 day trip so we carry a lot of beer
