Default Adding windlass to 1999 2800 scr

Does anyone have knowledge of cost and/or difficulty of
adding a windlass to a 1999 2800 scr? I'm looking at
Purchasing the boat and it currently does not have a windlass.
Would this boat be pre-wired for this?
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

It's not for the faint of heart... I installed one recently on my 2400 SCR. Required making a 4 1/2" hole through the deck, routing 8awg wires from batteries to the windlass, holes in console for switches. I paid approx $750(shipped) for windlass, $100 for power cable, $30 for proper sized hole saw, $30 for piece of scrap King Starboard, etc... Other items needed were marine sealant, wire terminals, proper crimping tools, heat shrink, etc. Do a search on here and you'll see some installs of what's involved. You'll save a ton of money by doing it yourself...

joe I would expect it will cost between $1000 and $1500 for a windlass for this boat size plus all the extras to connect it. Not sure if this year/model is prewired, look in the anchor locker for wiring.

I am sure others with this model will be able to give better info.

let us know what you decide to do.

My 98 SCR 3000 is pre wired. The cables are all the way back in the engine compartment & in the locker. Stick your head in & look up-. As others were saying. better not to skimp on a windlass. Better to be a bit big than marginal or two small

Can you by chance get a pic of where you can see each one? I am trying to find them on my 99 and if its prewired that would save me a ton of time!
